About Travelers Aid Society Of Philadelphia

Travelers Aid Philadelphia Was Established To Assist Newcomers To The Country And Stranded Travelers In Philadelphia, Especially Mothers Of Small Children And Young Women Traveling Alone. The Agency Continues To Serve 3500 Stranded Travelers And Newcomers To The City Each Year. Travelers Aid Has Expanded Its Services To Meet The Needs Of Emerging Groups Of Disconnected Persons Over The Past 100 Years --- E.G., Wandering Unemployed Persons During The Depression, Uniformed Services Personnel During Wwii, And Refugees From Conflicts In Southeast Asia And Central America In The 1970's And 80's. In The 1990's The Agency Developed Housing And Support Programs For Homeless Families And Telecommunications Assistance For Very Low Income Persons In The City. Travelers Aid Is A Founding Member Of The United Way Of Southeastern Pennsylvania And Is Member Of Travelers Aid International.
