Yonkers Community Action Program, Inc. Is A Private Not-For-Profit Corporation Designated As The City's Anti-Poverty Agency Under The Economic Opportunity Act Of 1964. Our Mission Is To Give Leadership And Support To Advance The Welfare Of The Residence If The Yonkers Community, With Particular Emphasis On Coordination Of Actions For The Elimination Of Poverty. The Basic Approach To Accomplishing This Broad Objective Is Through Community Empowerment. Governed By A Tripartite Board Of Directors, One-Third Of Whom Are Elected Representatives Of The Poor, The Agency Has Held Grants And Contracts With Government At All Levels. Over The Past Decade Our Center Has Operated A Variety Of Programs And Services That Meet The Needs Of Our Target Area. In 1999, Ycap Delivered Unduplicated Services To More 12,000 Individuals And Families. The Only Criteria For Eligibility Are Income And Residence.
