Mission: Catalyst For Community Development In Williamsburg; Emissary For The Community To The Business And Political Community And A Vehicle For Self-Help. 2. Need/Problem Oda Addresses Is That Of A Disadvantaged Minority And A Minority That Is Generally Not Given The Status Of A Disadvantaged Minority In Competing Economically And Socially By Local And State Governments And Businesses Making The Hasidic Community's Position Perpetuate Itself. The Attendant Issues Are Oda's Purview, Affordable Housing, Adequate Health Care For Families, Seniors And Economic Assistance To Small Businesses. Population Served: Primarily Members Of The Hasidic Disadvantaged Minority In Williamsburg Many Of Who Are Below The 80% Of Median Income. Family Size Is On Average 9.2 Children And Approximately 2/3 Of The Population Lives In Overcrowded Conditions. The Population Is Bi-Lingual Yiddish/English With For Many Yiddish Being The Primary Language. The Minority Business Development Center Serves All Minorities In Brooklyn With Small Businesses. Geographic Boundaries: The Boundaries Of Our Service Area Are: Kent Avenue; South 2nd Street, Classon Avenue, To Lafayette Avenue To Marcy Avenue To Flushing Avenue To Broadway To Leonard Street, Ten Eyck Street, To South 2nd Street To Kent (See Map - Attached) Socio Economic Status: Oda's Programs Serves Primarily The Low Income Members Of The Community Who Are Involved In The Programs Which Oda Administers - Wic, Home Health Care Attendants, Weatherization. The Primary Care Health Center As An Affiliate Of Beth Israel Hospital Sees Patients From Throughout The Williamsburg Area Is Open 7 Days A Week. The Housing Program Is Geared To Those 80% Below The Median Income Ethnicity And Age: A Significant Percentage Of Our Clients Are Senior Citizens Or Families With Young Children. Approximately Two Thirds Of The Population Is Caucasian And One Third Is Hispanic In Williamsburg. A Large Portion Of Our Target Population Is The Disadvantaged Hasidic Minority, Which Is Yiddish Speaking.
